What’s your sport: Baseball, Basketball, Field Hockey, Football, Hockey, Soccer,
Wrestling? In a way it doesn’t matter.
Boxing is an elite, full-body conditioning tool for all sports improving cardiovascular
endurance, rotational power, agility and mental toughness.
This one hour Circuit Training Strength and Conditioning Class is run by Nick Conner, a
National Certified USA Boxing Coach, Black Belt in Shaolin Five Animal Kung Fu and
former College Wrestler.
This class will include 3-4 minute rounds at different circuit stations including heavy
bag work, speed bag and reflex work, jump roping, mitt work and more.
Key Benefits of Boxing for Conditioning
- Cardiovascular Endurance: Intervals (e.g., 3-minute rounds) mimic the high-low intensity demands of team sports, improving aerobic and anaerobic capacity.
- Rotational Power & Core Strength: Punching mechanics and defensive movements (weaving/slipping) strengthen the core and increase rotational strength, crucial for throwing, hitting, or kicking.
- Agility & Coordination: Footwork drills, jump rope, and shadowboxing enhance balance, hand-eye coordination, and movement speed.
- Muscular Endurance: High-volume training (shadowboxing, bag work) builds muscular stamina in the shoulders, back, and core, preventing fatigue in other sports.
- Mental Toughness: Training under fatigue improves composure and focus in high-pressure situations.
