Get ready to suit up, dive into the hive, and experience the incredible world of honeybees—up close and in action!
MCF Bee Club is an immersive, hands-on beekeeping program designed especially for students in grades 4–8. Rather than sitting through long lectures, students learn by doing— assembling hives, installing bee colonies, caring for live honeybees, and harvesting real honey and beeswax products throughout the year.
Whether your child joins us for one seasonal session or becomes a year-round beekeeper, they’ll gain practical skills, scientific knowledge, and unforgettable outdoor experiences.
What Makes MCF Bee Club Unique?
- Assemble & Design Real Beehives – Students construct, customize, and paint their own hive equipment.
- Work with Live Honeybees – Wearing professional protective gear, participants install and manage active colonies***.
- Harvest & Create – When conditions allow, students extract honey, filter and bottle it, refine beeswax, and craft products like lip balms, hand creams, and soaps.
- Follow the Seasons – Experience the full beekeeping calendar, from spring colony expansion to winter survival strategies in New England.
- Learn Real Science in Action – Understand honeybee biology, colony behavior, nectar flows, pest management, and sustainable hive care.
Hands-on portions taught by members of Norfolk County Beekeepers Association!
***We understand that safety around live bees may be a concern for families, a concern we take very seriously. Safety procedures will be a central focus of this program, and we will provide participants and their guardians with all the information necessary to understand the risks and effective precautions associated with working with bees. A parent/guardian-signed waiver will be required, and fees for this program reflect the partial cost of all safety materials, including a full class set of bee suits.***

About Medway Community Farm:
Medway Community Farm is a registered 501(c)3 charity located in Medway, Massachusetts.
Our mission is to maintain a place that enhances Medway’s rural character, fosters community spirit and encourages “learning from the land” by providing and increasing access to locally grown food, volunteer experiences, educational programming, and public events.
Our Story:
Medway Community Farm (MCF) was founded through grassroots efforts in 2009 with the goal of stewarding land for agricultural and educational purposes. With the support of our community, volunteers, board, and staff, the Farm now occupies 18 acres of growing fields, conservation land, walking trails, and wooded areas.
Through sustainable and organic growing practices, our fields yield fresh vegetables, herbs, and flowers that we provide to Members through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model as well as to retail customers online, in the Farm Store, and at local Farmers Markets. We are committed to building food access in our area by participating in SNAP & HIP programs, and by donating a portion of the produce we grow to the food pantries at Medway Village Church and Mahan Circle, as well as Medway House Family Shelter.
MCF strives to create a gathering place dedicated to a shared passion for nature, land stewardship, and organic farming by offering meaningful hands-on educational programs and on-farm community events that cater to all ages. Visitors are encouraged to stop by and walk the property using farm roads and walking trails. We also welcome you to reach out and schedule a visit with us.
