Nikki's story:
Becoming the Founder of the New England School of Protocol
In a world dominated by screens and virtual connections, I noticed a concerning trend. As a mother, I saw children on playdates and teens socializing with their friends, physically present yet mentally absorbed in their devices. They communicated through screens rather than speaking across the room. Their gaze fixed on virtual landscapes, neglecting the world around them. Basic manners and etiquette are fading away, replaced by emojis and abbreviations. The art of small talk felt like a fading memory.

Drawing from my own experiences and upbringing, I decided to reignite the importance of life skills and social etiquette. I got certified to teach and started organizing sessions for children, teens, and even adults. It wasn’t merely about teaching manners; it was about instilling empathy, understanding, and self-awareness. Through the etiquette lessons, I hoped for a change. Students not just learning etiquette but also gaining a profound appreciation for the diversity in humanity, embracing differences and celebrating similarities. My goal was to empower them to become self-assured individuals, poised to present their best selves to the world. These once overlooked skills becoming their superpowers, allowing them to forge connections that transcended the digital realm of screens and hashtags.

In today’s digital age, effective communication is vital. We need a community equipped not only with technological prowess, but also with the invaluable art of human connection. Research shows a decline in face-to-face conversations and interpersonal skills due to the influence of social media. Though norms may have changed, the timeless principles of etiquette remain. Polished social skills aren’t just courtesy; they’re the essence of confidence.

Through New England School of Protocol, my aim is to impart these vital life skills, emphasizing social awareness and mutual respect. For I believe that etiquette is the foundation of civility, shaping our homes, schools, and society at large. Join me in this journey towards a more connected and courteous world.
