eScout Academy offers creative courses to inspire students towards computing and learn the basics of Science and Physical computing (STEM), Robotics concepts in a fun and easy way. The course consists of different themed activities like Art, music, storytelling, interactive games, science experiments to inspire and engage students towards technology, and "Making STEM fun and real".
Courses focus on building creativity(through interactive exercises), social-emotional intelligence, peer-peer learning, working in a group environment, design thinking, mathematical thinkers, and real-world problem-solvers.
Animation & Develop Games - Level 1 & 2 Grade 2 -4
eScout Academy offers an introduction to the basics of science and physical computing, game building, and Lego robotics concepts in a fun and easy way. In Animation and Develop Games Levels 1 & 2, students will be introduced to code puzzles, express and apply computing steps, and build and play with code blocks. Create games using sequencing, conditionals, and Operators concepts. Participants will need a laptop or tablet. Headphones are optional.
Animation & Develop Games - Level 3, Grade 4-5
Equips students with foundational coding skills and computational thinking through interactive game design. Introduction to Block-Based Coding: Students learn the basics of programming and develop critical thinking skills. Maze Game Creation: Step-by-step instruction on building, testing, and debugging a maze game to understand core programming concepts. Arcade and Sports Games Development: Students advance to creating single and multiplayer games, applying loops, conditionals, and mathematical operations.
Develop games using "python" Grade 5 - 8
eScout Academy offers an introduction to the basics of science and physical computing, game building, and Lego robotics concepts in a fun and easy way. In Development Games using Python, students will be introduced to foundational computing skills, transitions from blocks to simple code, python basics, variables, loops, and functions to create visuals, artwork, simulations, interactive games, and more. Participants will need a laptop or Chromebook. Headphones are optional.
Hands-on Robotics with Micro:bit (Block Coding) Level 1 Grades 4-6
This engaging program introduces students to the exciting world of robotics and coding using Micro:bit, a pocket-sized programmable computer. Through hands-on experiments and block coding, students will explore the Micro:bit's built-in sensors, including an accelerometer, light sensor, and motion detector, to create fun and practical projects. Project includes: Building a step counter, designing a dice roller for board games, creating an animal tracker and many more exciting real-world experiments. *This class requires purchase of a physical Micro:bit device (appr. $35), which can be used for future Micro:bit series classes.
