Conservation Commission and Open Space Committee Host Invasive Species Identification and Eradication Technique Class
Bridget Graziano, Conservation Agent, and Jim Wickis, Open Space Committee, will lead participants on a walk to learn about some of Medway’s most serious invasive plants, and what you can do about them.
In this outdoor class, you will learn how to identify invasive plants in Medway and take home an identification kit. The goal for this class is to take what you have learned and apply it at home or as a volunteer. After just a few weeks of using the ID kit, you will be surprised at how many invasives there are around us.
This class will review several invasive species, including, but not limited to, autumn olive, oriental bittersweet, glossy buckthorn, garlic mustard, multiflora rose, and bush honeysuckle. In addition, the class will see some look-alikes and work to identify the differences.
Please plan to meet at the Adams Street Parking Area for the 6/13/25 Class and the Kimberly Drive parking lot at Idylbrook Field for the 7/18/25 Class. The class will begin at 9:00 a.m., so please arrive about 10 minutes early to get set up and checked in. The class will last approximately 1 hour, and we hope to leave a little time for questions. This event is free, but please register so we know how many to plan for.
