9:00 AM - 11:00 AM    Metro West Mixed Gender Advanced Travel League - Pickleball Travel League - Spring 2024
Medway Recreation is partnering with USTA New England to run a competitive mixed-gender advanced league.. This league is advanced and is for teams whose players have a 4.5 DUPR rating. Each team consists of 4-6 players (at least 2 men and 2 women).  Games will be played against the other teams in the division over the course of a 6 week season. Each week, each doubles pair (one women’s doubles, one men’s doubles and one mixed doubles) will play best of 3 games against the opposing team. All matches will be played on Sundays from  9:00 to 11:00 am. Each team will designate a captain prior to registration.  The captain will register themselves and their “team name” with their parks and recreation department.  Players will register under their team or if you don’t have a team, be placed on a team “looking for players”.  Captains will set the lineup each week and are responsible for subs.    Advanced (DUPR 4.5) Has a solid understanding of the rules and strategy Anticipates opponents shots  Serves are deep, strong and consistent; has a strong backhand Ability to mix up third shot’s power level (dropping and driving from forehand and backhand) Plays aggressively in the non-volley zone; dinks are shallow and low and move your opponents by placing shots where you aim them. Ability to control volleys and aim at your opponent’s feet while blocking and leveling hard volleys towards you                                            Out of town registrations:We welcome those from other communities to join this league. Join the town of Medway and USTA New England for their Intermediate Social Pickleball League for Adults 19+! Bring your own paddle; balls and nets will be provided. Players must know the rules of Pickleball, how to keep score, and be able to serve and rally. Intermediate level description: Dependable shot control and serves, increased consistency with some ability to control height/depth. Sustains short to medium length rallies with the understanding of variations of pace and depth of shots. This is equivalent to a 3.0 to 4.0 DUPR rating. A follow up email will be sent from USTA to all registrants with a review of the rules. On the last day, we will run a mini-tournament and prizes will be awarded to the top 2 players! **PLEASE NOTE - SPOTS ARE LIMITED! USTA New England & Medway Parks and Recreation are hosting a Pickleball DUPR play eventat Medway HS courts. This event will allow players to obtain a DUPR rating which helps to ensure level-based play in future matches and programs. Players will sign up individually and will be playing with different players throughout the event. In order to receive their rating, players will need to create a free DUPR account at (www.mydupr.com) and join the club "USTA - New England."
